The Focus of the Course

This one week intensive course is intended to give insights into recent advances in statistical and computational aspects of the design and interpretation of microarray experiments. The topics will include all aspects of the data analysis of microarray experiments for transcript profiling and ChIP-chip. The course is intended mainly for researchers with a basic understanding of microarray technology and its statistical and computational challenges. The four practical sessions of the course will be most beneficial for participants that are able to converse in a programming language such as R.


Course Skeleton

The course consists of 10 morning lectures, 2 per day (8:30 - 12:00), distributed on 5 days (Monday to Friday). Detailed case studies, suitable for self-study will be made available daily.

Computer tutorials

4 afternoons are dedicated to computer tutorials. Participants are required to bring their own laptops with the most recent copy of R and Bioconductor installed. A WiFi network card is welcome to connect to our local network.

We will have copies of both R and Bioconductor and we can help to install the software if needed once you are in Brixen. The labs will be worked on in groups with expert guidance (all the lecturers from the morning sessions plus teaching assistants).
